An American flag with President Obama's image in place of the stars flew over a Florida county's Democrat headquarters long enough to enrage local veterans who called the altered banner "a disgrace." Lake County Democratic Party officials took down the flag, which flew just below a standard Old Glory on the flagpole outside headquarters in Tavares following complaints by local veterans. But merely taking it down wasn't enough for several local veterans, who said they fought for the flag Betsy Ross made famous, not one with a politician on it. "It's absolutely disrespectful," Jim Bradford, a 71-year-old veteran who participated in the Bay of Pigs Invasion said. "It's totally ridiculous. To put somebody's picture there, to me, it's a disgrace to do that." Bradford, an organizer with the Veterans Memorial at Fountain Park in Leesburg, Florida, snapped photos of the flag and distributed them to fellow veterans and friends. By late afternoon, he and several other veterans delivered a copy of the federal flag code to Nancy Hurlbert, chairwoman of the Lake County Democratic Party. "We read that to her, but she would not accept that," Bradford said. "The discussion finally got a little bit heated." The flag, which had been flying for several months without complaint and is available online for $12.95, was later removed by Hurlbert. Bradford said Hurlbert apologized for the incident, but did not offer any promises that it wouldn't fly again.

On April 25, 1976 at Dodger Stadium, Rick Monday of the Chicago Cubs, grabbed and secured the American flag from two individuals as they were attempting to burn our flag in the middle of the playing field. It was an outstanding display of American Patriotism. Due to the numerous references to 'allah' and insistence that their chairs be faced in a certain direction while being questioned, the two, a father and his son, were described to be muslims by several security personnel including an off duty police officer in attendance at the game who went down to the security room soon after the incident. Others claim that the two, William Errol Thomas and his brother, later corrected to be Thomas and his 11 year old son (not identified due to his age) were war protesters. Others claimed Thomas escaped from a mental institution, others said that his wife was being held illegally and against her will in a mental institution and various other claims. Regardless, it's probably safe to say that what they attempted to do was a disgrace to our American Flag and every American citizen. Aside from public ridicule, Thomas incurred minimal legal actions for his actions. He was fined $60 for trespassing and placed on probation for a year. No formal charges were filed against his 11 year old son who was treated as a juvenile offender. Something that was also confusing was obtaining the flag burner's real name. Security personnel at the stadium said that his name was William Errol Morris ...

SDPD Harassing Veteran Over Posting the American FlagMay 13, 2012
One of our wonderful resident veterans, Joseph Aldous (USAF), was trying to place up an American flag, like we've been doing this whole time, and the SDPD made sure that would not happen. This is one of the most shameful things I've EVER seen. This is our flag. This is the symbol of our once great nation, and the SDPD does not believe that this is covered under free speech. What you don't see is our veteran walking over to the 4 feet of private property across the square to post up his flag. The officers tried to tell him he could not, but since he was on private property, he stated that if the owners of the property had a problem with the flag being there, he would gladly move it elsewhere. You will want to turn up your volume for this. Also, I apologize for my shock over this contributing to me (holding the camera) not being able to keep my mouth shut. I'll try harder next time. WARNING - there is loud (poor) singing at the end of this video. We tend to sing when anything ridiculous, such as this, happens.
